![]() In FMAB & FMAM the main antagonist was a character referred to as Father, a being of incredible power who is capable of performing transmutation at will, and without regard for equivalent exchange. The major differences between FMA03 and FMAB & FMAM are: StorylineĪlthough both stories follow Edward and Alphonse, the overarching story is considerably different between FMA03 and FMAB & FMAM. This allowed FMAB's storyline to be more faithful to FMAM's storyline because FMAB had a mostly-complete storyline to draw from FMAM. ![]() On the other hand, FMAB was created when FMAM was nearing the end of its development. FMA03's storyline started to diverge from FMAM's storyline after around 10 episodes because, at that point, the anime was starting to outpace the manga. When this happens, either filler for the anime is created or changes to the anime's storyline and characters are made so that the anime can continue to be developed. When an anime series is based on a manga that is still in development, the anime is eventually going to reach a point where it outpaces the manga, because anime episodes tend to be developed quicker than manga volumes. Even characters like Winry and Alphonse who work better with rounded eyes).Įdward’s hair is really nice looking in FMAB, like it looks smooth and clean. Winry’s mechanics outfit’s colors are unappealing and she looks more “Winry” when her eyes are round rather than square (FMA03 loved giving characters squared eyes. In FMAB/the manga, the artists actually drew her hair to actually look like hair and have her facial features look girlish and attractive.īradley and Hohenheim’s designs in FMA03 look bulky and weird when they are in motion too where as in FMAB they look like they can react and change expressions far better. I think Lust looks especially drab and ugly in FMA03 with her hair looking like an inconsistent bumpy cloudlike mass on her head rather than actual hair and how she has a long nose and thin lips. I really don’t like 03!Scar’s delicate bishonen face considering his manga and brotherhood character model was older and more gruff, it really makes me think they were scared to have a focal male character not be a pretty boy so they made sure to give us a boy band version of Scar.Ġ3 Kimblee looks stupid with that rat tail mullet. Maybe it’s an unpopular opinion but I can’t stand FMA03’s art style and coloring for a lot of characters.
